The CEO
Evolution
Four shifts, one system. Rate where you are on each, take the one action that moves it, and see the exact gap between the strategy you already know and the identity that holds it.
The four shifts are one system: how a founder stops running the bigger business as the person who built the smaller one.
You already know the moves. Deciding on standards instead of feelings, setting a standard the business can hold without you, building authority people attribute to you, and growing in a way that needs less of you. Under every shift sits the same truth. The strategy is simple. The identity to hold it is the real work. This maps where you actually are.
Make CEO-level decisions faster
Speed does not come from thinking harder. It comes from deciding in advance. The decision is 80% made before it lands on your desk.
Write your decision filter. Three to five questions every yes has to pass. Does this move revenue or brand? Does it fit the next 12 months, not just this week? Would I still choose it if I were not tired or excited?
Lead at the level your business now requires
If it only works when you are switched on, you do not have a standard. You have a personality doing overtime. The standard has to live in the business, not your head.
Do a bottleneck audit. For one week, write down every question or problem that came to you. Sort into two piles: things only a CEO should touch, and things that came to you because the standard was never written down. Pile two is your to-do list.
Build authority people attribute to you
Plenty of people are visible and still forgettable. Authority is a point of view that is clearly yours, held in public with enough conviction that people can quote you.
Write your five non-negotiable beliefs. The things you would argue for even if they cost you followers. If none of them could offend anyone, they are too soft to build authority on.
Grow without becoming more essential
Most people scale in a way that makes them more essential, not less. More of everything routing through the one person who cannot be replaced. You build the rhythm before you need it.
Identify your three "only me" tasks. The things that genuinely only you can do. Everything outside those three is a candidate to systemise, template or hand off. Most founders find the real list is far shorter than they assumed.
Your CEO Evolution Map
Your lowest shift is where you are still running the bigger business as the person who built the smaller one. Start there.
This is the shift holding the other three back. You can see the standard, but it still lives in your head instead of the business. The strategy here is simple. Holding it is the identity work.
Bring your map. We work the shift you scored lowest, strategy and the identity work together.
